New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) Electronics major Samsung India has introduced four star labelling on its entire frost free range of refrigerators across the country.

The star rating on refrigerators, being implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, is expected to come into effect in the next couple of months.

All existing refrigerator models in the market are in two or three star rating band with five being the highest and one being the lowest rating in energy efficiency.

''We fully support the government's initiative towards implementing star rating labelling. The star rating not only gives the consumer a clear idea on the energy efficiency of the unit but also a clear idea on the power and therefore the cost saving,'' states Mr R Zutshi, Deputy Managing Director, Samsung India.

The difference in power saving between a three star rated and four star rated refrigerators is on an average a 100 electricity units over an year.

Samsung has a range of 37 frost free refrigerator models with a capacity between 230L-710L, priced in the range Rs 12,800 to Rs 1,14,000. It currently enjoys a market share of around 23 per cent in the frost free refrigerator market in India.
