Retd Brig granted bail in widow harassment case
Chandigarh, Jan 11 (UNI) A local court today granted bail to Punjab Sainik Welfare Board Director Brig (retd) J S Jaswal in a defence widow sexual harassment case against him.
The Additional Session Judge B K Mehta had earlier directed Brig (retd) Jaswal, so far on interim bail, to cooperate with the police in the investigations into the 35-year-old Raj Kaur's complaint.
The widow of gallantry award-winner Havildar Gurnam Singh of 13 Field Regiment, who had joined the board as a clerk in 2000, last month publicly accused the Director of sexually harassing as well as threatening her life when he joined as Director in 2003.
The Director is facing charges under sections 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) along with sections 506 and 509 of the IPC.
In her complaint, Raj Kaur, who also approached the National Commission for Women, said that Director tried to force her to have physical relationships and began harassing her when she thwarted his attempts. She has also accused him of spoiling her ACR to pressurise her.
