Raj Bhawan attempting constitutional crisis in UP: SP
Lucknow, Jan 11 (UNI) Ruling Samajwadi Party today alleged Raj Bhawan was conspiring to create a constitutional crisis in Uttar Pradesh following Governor T V Rajeswar's decision to prorogue the assembly even after the state cabinet decided to recall the order of prorogue and continue the monsoon session from January 15.
''In democratic set-up, cabinet is the supreme power and can recall its old decision,'' senior SP leader and state agriculture minister Ashokh Bajpai claimed here.
Talking to reporters, Mr Bajpai said the decision to reconvene the assembly was taken on January 9, but the governor signed the prorogue order on January 10, after his return from New Delhi.
''Raj Bhawan, on political dictate from the Congress, is trying to confront the state government,'' he alleged.
Reiterating the the decision to hold the session from January 15 is legal and constitutionally valid, he said the goverment will seek confidence vote and take up other agenda during the session.
The SP leader said the strength of the government inside the assembly will increase even after RLD decision to snap ties with the government.
''Everyone knows about RLD's opportunist approach in the past, as they only have lust for power,'' Mr Bajpai charged.
The minister said raking up the cane price issue for the resignation at this juncture, the RLD was trying to divert the attention of the people as they have supported the price inside the assembly and in the cabinet meeting.
