Patel Engineering bags Rs 144 crore project from BMC
Mumbai, Jan 11 (UNI) Patel Engineering has bagged orders for construction of a tunnel worth Rs 143.59 crore from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Greater Mumbai (BMC).
The project involves construction of approximately 6.1 km long tunnel of 2.8 metres diameter, from Veravail to Yari Road via Adarsh Nagar in the suburbs of Mumbai, the company said in a notice issued to BSE. It will involve the use of full face rock tunnel boring machine, including construction of 50-80m deep shafts at these areas.
Significantly, the project will use Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) compared to drill-and-blast technology for construction of this tunnel thereby drilling upto 50 meters below ground level. It will be done without disturbing the building and traffic in the surrounding area. In the past, BMC has used technology for other water supply and sewage projects.
