Killer sentenced to life

Jaunpur, Jan 11 (UNI) A local court has pronounced life imprisonment on a person accused of the murder of a mediaperson in this district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to prosecution, on June 26, 2004 -- Vyapar Mandal President and journalist Vijay Kumar Singh alias Vijju Singh was shot dead by some assailants in Badlapur bazar area.

Later, an FIR was lodged against Jagat Narayan Singh, Pankaj Singh and Santosh.

While police had gunned down accused Jagat and Panjay in an encounter, Santosh had surrendered before a court.

On the basis of substantial evidence and testimony, Additional District and Sessions Court (II) Judge Brij Bhushan Pandey slapped life imprisonment on Santosh and imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 on him.
