Katrina's skirt flares up another brawl at Ajmer Sharif

Ajmer, Jan 11 (UNI) The Khadims and dargah committee members of Sufi saint Moinuddin Hasan Chisti dargah are currently engaged in a war of words over Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif's skirt row.

Khadims' organisation Anjuman, who help devotees perform ziyarat at the dargah, has alleged that dargah committee members are making ''unnecessary statements'' over the skirt issue and are actually trying to blackmail the film actors and other important personalities, who visit the mosque.

The Khadims have urged the committee members to stop issuing contradictory statements and put an end to the issue.

A row had erupted over Katrina's dress code while she was shooting for director Vipul Shah's film 'Namaste London' in the dargah premises in October last year. Katrina was reportedly wearing a short skirt, which exposed her legs and was hence objectionable to the dargah members.

The dargah committee had sent a legal notice to the film crew, demanding an apology.

Two days back, committee member Abid Ali Pahalwan, heading the investigations, said director Vipul Shah had offered his apologies and hence they had decided to put an end to the issue.

The next day, committee member Sadar Peerzada Sibli Kasim said the matter cannot be defused until the film crew offers a written apology.

Meanwhile, the khadims' anjuman were provoked due to the contradictory statements being issued by committee members. The Khadims feel the members are hurting the religious sentiments of crores of ziyarins including popular film stars, who come here, reposing utter faith in the dargah.

The Khadim anjuman has threatened Kasim and Pahalwan with legal notices if they do not end the issue soon. Anjuman's spokeman Saiyad Sarwar Chisti said committee members have political affiliations and were more interested in furthering their own interests rather than the dargah's welfare.
