J'khand HC drops contempt proceeding against CBI Director
Ranchi, Jan 11 (UNI) Jharkhand High Court today dropped the contempt proceeding against CBI Director Vijay Shankar after he tendered his unconditional apology before the court in connection with the transfer of CBI's Additional Superintendent of police R.C.Chaudhary.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Muthuswamy Karpagyavinayagam and Justice Permod Kohli passed the order while hearing a writ petition filed by Rajeev Ranjan alias Lalan Singh.
Mr Chaudhary, ASP CBI, Ranchi, inquiring the much-hyped multi crore rupees fodder scam, was transferred to Delhi in November last despite the high court's direction of not taking any decision without its permission regarding the fodder scam cases as these were being monitored by the court.
Mr Choudhary was also present in the court as per its earlier order.
On November 17 last year the Court had issued show cause notice to the CBI director and several dates were also given to file show cause reply but the department failed to comply.
On December 18 the CBI Director was supposed to appear in the court but did not do so as there was no monitoring bench on that day.
