Chandigarh, Jan 11 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today accepted the apology tendered by Haryana Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Param Vir Rathi over the misbehaviour of his staff with the staff of a High Court justice Nirmal Yadav.

The incident had occurred at NH1 at Ambala in November last year when the ADGP's escorts had threatened the staff of Justice Yadav.

Taking a serious note of the incident, the High Court had taken cognisance of the incident after the personal security officer(PSO) attached with Mrs Justice Yadav gave a complaint.

Mr Rathi, in an affidavit submitted in the court in response to the notice from the bench, submitted that escort head constable Gurmit Singh, constable Rakesh Kumar and another police official were suspended and an FIR was registered against them under section 323 and 341 IPC in connection with the incident at police station, Baldev Nagar, Ambala. A departmental inquiry had also been ordered against them.

The replies to the case were also submitted in the form of affidavits by the district police chiefs of Ambala and Kurukashetra assuring against recurrence of any such incident.

In the light of the apology tendered by Mr Rathi, the division bench of the Chief Justice Vijendra Jain and Justice Rajive Bhalla disposed of the matter pertaining to launching of contempt proceedings against him and other accused police personnel.
