Gurbachan singh Babbehali to contest Gurdaspur assembly seat

Jalandhar, Jan 10 (UNI) Milkfed Chairman Gurbachan Singh Babbehali who recently quit Congress to join Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) has been fielded by the later from Gurdaspur segment for the January 13 assembly elections in Punjab.

SAD president and former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal announced Babbehali's candidature this evening.

Besides, Mr Babbehali, sitting MLA Sadhu Singh Rajeana has also been refielded from Bagha Purana assembly constituency, Mr Badal said.

With this, the SAD has so far announced names of 92 party candidates. Two or three more nominees will to be announced later.

The party is contesting the election in alliance with BJP and the later is expected to contest 22 or 23 of the total 117 assembly seats.
