'Gujarat Discovered' unique concept: Modi

Ahmedabad, Jan 11 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi here today inaugurated the ''Gujarat Discovered'' exhibition and dubbed it as a unique concept developed four years ago.

''We are in an era of competition, healthy competition and competition for development, competition for good governance and competition for betterment of common man's life,'' Mr Modi said after inaugurating the exhibition at Science City.

''Gujarat is trying to do something which can change the process of development, spirit of development, speed of development and we want to discover something more,'' Mr Modi said addressing a huge gathering of delegates, captains of industry and others.

''I feel after seeing such a gathering of topmost industrialists gathered here that it shows the spirit of Gujarat,'' said Mr Modi ''Today, we need to have global participation in these competitive times and we need to prove ourselves. Simply saying we are good and we have a good 'parampara' is not enough. There is a pressing need for a new work culture,'' Mr Modi said.

''Today Gujarat has taken this step for optimum use of human resource development through a holistic approach without losing our strength. We therefore, set up this exhibition,'' Mr Modi said.

''World is searching for a proper environment for investment.

They are not bothered about the colour of the skin of the native, or the nature of that country's currency,'' Mr Modi said.

''They want to discover a suitable place for investment. I invite the world and tell them whatever you are searching, it is here in Gujarat. Come here and discover Gujarat,'' he said.

''Gujarat has a pro-active good governance. Anyone who invests here will have a win-win situation. Even the common man would reap the benefits,'' Mr Modi said.

The exhibition focuses on SEZ as the economy of the future would be SEZ-driven, Mr Modi said.

''It will have an impact on the world market. We cannot ignore such immense possibilities, he said adding foreign investors should not just stand on the river banks staring at the river flowing by.

They must take the plunge,'' Mr Modi said.

Elaborating on why SEZs is the government's focus, Mr Modi said GUjarat's 1600-km-long coastline will play an important role not only in port development but also in port-led development, he said.

''We have a strategic view. In 2004, Gujarat made the first SEZ Act in the country before anyone thought about it. Today, we want to integrate port, SEZ, warehousing network, cold storage, world class infrastructure and production-to-port(P-to-P). This vision of integrated arrangement has been given to investors,'' he said.
