Five members of family commits suicide

Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 11 (UNI) Five members of a family, including mother and daughter-in-law, committed suicide by consuming poison at their residence near Kalyanadurg village in this district.

Police said father, mother, two sons and their daughter-in-law committed suicide yesterday morning. Father Laxminarayan and mother Kamalamma died on the spot. Elder son and daughter-in-law were declared brought dead at the Kalyanadurg Hospital and the younger son Trivikram died in Anantapur hospital, while undergoing treatment.

Mr Laxminarayan was an agent of the Postal Recurring Deposits scheme for several years. His sons used to collect money from the depositors and utilised it for their own expenditure . Fearing that they would incur the wrath of the depositors, the family members took the extreme step.

A case has been registered and an investigation was underway, police added.
