Cong MP protests to EC against defamatory Ads by Badals

Jalandhar, Jan 11 (UNI) Ruling Congress sitting MP Rana Gurjit Singh and party's Kapurthala unit chief Sukhpal Singh Khaira have urged the Election Commission to take legal action against Shiromani Akali Dal chief Parkash Singh Badal and his MP son Sukhbir Singh Badal for ''defamatory advertisement'' in reference to their relationship with Nithari serial killing accused Moninder Singh Pandher.

Talking to reporters here today Mr Rana and Mr Khaira said the Badals took out an advertisement in a news paper today in the name of All India Sikh Student Federation and made derogatory remarks against them for being relatives of Nithari killings accused Pandher.

They said they had relations with Pandher but had no link with the Nithari killing.

They alleged that the Badals' action was meant to defame the ruling Congress for taking ''undue and unfair'' mileage in the February Punjab assembly elections.

Mr Rana and Mr Khaira said they had also sought legal action against the managing director and editor of the newspaper. A criminal case was also being filed in the court in this connection, they added.
