Cong avoids comment on SC ruling on Ninth Schedule

New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) The Congress today refrained from commenting on the Supreme Court judgement holding that the Ninth Schedule Laws do not enjoy absolute immunity.

"Since the matter concerns the law, we are studying the judgement," AICC General Secretary and Chairperson of the Congress Media Cell Janardan Dwivedi said in a guarded response to the landmark judgement by the apex court.

"The Congress has not formulated its view on the judgement,"Mr Dwivedi told reporters when asked for party's reaction to the decision.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court had ruled that the laws in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution did not enjoy absolute immunity from judicial review.
