Cold wave hits normal life in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Jan 11 (UNI) Intense cold wave, mainly due to the continuous snowfall in the upper reaches of Himalayas, made life miserable for people in Rajasthan with Churu remaining the coldest place here today.

While Churu recorded 0.9 degree Celsius, three degrees below normal and remained the coldest in the state, the temperature in Jaipur plunged to 3.2 degrees, five degrees below normal.

Fog along with cold winds had disrupted flight and train schedules, delaying their arrival and departure by two to three hours, Airport and Railway authorities said.

Western and northern parts of Rajasthan have been experiencing freezing cold for the last four days with temperatures dipping continuously.

Pilani in Jhunjhunu district recorded 2 degrees Celsius, Ganganagar 3.5, Udaipur 5, Bikaner 5.1, Dholpur 6, Barmer 6.5, Bikaner 6.8, Sawaimadhopur 7, Jaisalmer 7.3, Jodhpur 8, Bundi 10 and Rawatbhata 11.2.

The weather office has predicted that the cold wave would persist over the next few days.
