BSNL earns Rs 168 cr in Krishna district says GM

Vijayawada, Jan 11:Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today said it aimed to earn a revenue of Rs 168 crore in Krishna district by March 31, 2007.

Addressing a press conference here, Vijayawada circle BSNL General Manager M John Chrisostom said the revenue earned was Rs 130 crore ending December 31, 2006 in the district.

He said during the current fiscal, the total line connections like B-Fone, Cellular, WLL, and FLPP in the district increased from 2,57,000 (as on March 31, 2006) to 3,02,037 till now.

Informing about the plans for the year 2007, he said the department plans to commission 33 additional WLL Base Trans Receiver Stations (BTSs), an Overlay Access Network (OAN) at Machilipatnam and Fixed Line Pre-Paid (FLPP) service.

Explaining the main features of the FLPP service, he said the FLPP account card enables a subscriber to make calls from a pre-paid account which was linked to his telephone number. The FLPP service can be used from fixed and WLL network.

He said the department has been providing a free B-Fone connection to B-Fone customers whose average monthly bill was Rs 1,500 and above during the last six months.

He said there would be no security deposit for FLPP as well as installation charges. The billing pattern of original telephone would be reviewed once in a year.
