Attach warrant issued against DGP Mohanty in Alwar rape case

Jaipur, Jan 11 (UNI) The Additional District Magistrate has issued a warrant of attachment against Orissa DGP B B Mohanty, whose son Biti Mohanty, a rape accused, jumped parole.

The chief secretary of Orissa has been directed to attach the property of DGP Mohanty if he fails to deposit the surety bond of Rs 50,000 within 15 days.

The warrant has been issued against DGP Mohanty (Home Guards and Fire Services) for aiding his son Biti jump parole. Mohanty had signed the surety bonds for his son saying Biti be allowed to visit his ailing mother in Orissa.

The court has authorised Chief Secretary Orissa to attach the movable assets of DGP Mohanty, at his residence C-B 17-B 2 police station Cantonment, Cuttack.

If the said amount is not paid within 15 days, the property will be sold and the warrant would be executed as per directions. The court would also be informed about steps taken to execute the warrant.

Biti was serving a seven year term at the Central Jail after a fast track court at Alwar found him guilty of raping a German student.

Biti's 20-day parole ended on December 4 but he failed to return to the jail and is presently reported missing.
