Army intensifies combing operation against ULFA in Arunachal
Itanagar, Jan 11: The Arunachal Pradesh and Asom police have intensified their joint combing operations in several district of the state in view of the recent Asom carnage, that calimed 66 Hindi speaking people, official sources said here today. The operations have been launched in Manabhum reserve forest and Sonpura area under Lohit district, Namchik area under Changlang and Dambuk in Lower Dibang Valley district. However, no arrests were made, sources added.
According to state Director General of Police Amod K Kanth, police had been keeping a close vigil in these districts.
'' So far nothing significant had been found and no arrest had been made here.Our first duty is to maintain normalcy in Uttar Pradeh and see nothing goes wrong as extremists may sneak from adjoining states,'' he added. The army operations against ULFA would create hurdles for the forthcoming Parasuram Kund Mela during Makar Sankranti beginning from January 13.
Devotees from all over the country throng Arunachal Pradesh to visit the kund. Last year over one lakh tourists visited the state, sources said.
