New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) The All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) has expressed strong reservation on the setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) by acquiring agricultural land for the sake of industrialisation.

The decision to this effect was taken during its recently three-day Central Secretariat and Central Committee meet at Kolkata.

The AIFB in a statement issued here today said the party is of the firm conviction that industrialisation should not be at the cost of agriculture.

The indiscrimate sanctioning of SEZs in the country will do more harm than accuring benefits for the country. The party has urged the Centre to refrain from sanctioning any SEZs in the country.

The party is of the view that the present form of planning has totally failed to deliver the desired results. It is high time that the Planning Commission changed their mindset and redress the issues concerning rural India, it said.

The party strongly condemned the killing of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussian by the Iraqi authorities and critised the Indian Government for adopting a soft attitude on this incident.

The party said it welcomed the 27 per cent reservation policy announced by the Government for the OBC in the country.

It urged the Government to declare January 23 - the birthday of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose as " Desh Prem Divas" and observe the 11oth birthday in a befitting manner.

The party urged the Government not to accept the Action Taken Report, rather they should accept the Netaji Enquiry Commission report. Declare the so-called ashes kept at Renkoji Temple in Tokyo are not of Netaji. Stop all financial assistance to the authorities of the Renkoji Temple and rename the Andaman and Nicobar islands as "Shaheed and Swaraj" deeps.

The party informed it has decided to contest the forthcoming assembly elections in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Manipur.
