4 railway employees booked for fraud in Nagpur
Nagpur, Jan 11 (UNI) The police booked four employees of the Central Railway for allegedly defrauding a local branch of a nationalised bank to the tune of Rs 19 lakh by producing fake salary certificates.
The four accused, Harish Lucas Jakan (48), Prashant Manmatnath Ghosh (44), Baliram Bhasru Akchar (50) and Umaji Laxman Nikhare (46), availed of housing loans from a local branch of Union Bank of India here at different times between August 2004 and September 2006, on the basis of fake salary certificates, Police Inspector Sayyed Iqbal told UNI.
On the basis of a complaint filed by the Bank's Branch Manager, the police have registered four separate offences against the four men under Sections 420, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and further investigations are in progress, he disclosed.
However, no arrests have been made so far, he added.
