300 volunteers of MDMK join DMK

Chennai, Jan 11 (UNI) More than 300 volunteers and office bearers of the Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK) today quit the party and joined the ruling DMK.

After the DMK high-level committee extended an invitation to MDMK cadres, who were fed up with the leadership of Mr Vaiko, more than 300 party members, including some General Council members from Salem district joined DMK today, a party release here said.

They called on DMK President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at party headquartes ''Anna Arivalayam'' here and joined the party by presenting shawls to the leader, the release said.

Addressing them, Mr Karunanidhi said he was happy to enroll them as members of DMK and their homecoming would strengthen the party.
