Chennai, Jan 11 (UNI) The Central Crime Branch (CCB) Police arrested three persons, including a couple, for allegedly cheating a person by pledging his property with a bank for higher amount than decided.

Police said Jebamani of Velacherry wanted Rs one lakh for remitting college fees for his son's professional course study.

He approached Sekar, who, in turn, introduced the owner of a private teacher training institute Pappa Rajendran.

Rajendran promised to help the former by getting money after pledging his property documents with the bank.

Jebamani gave his property document in which Sekar, Pappa Rajendran and his wife Devi pledged it for Rs nine lakh in 2002 allegedly without the knowledge of Jebamani.

When the trio did not pay interest on the loan, the bank sent a notice to Jebamani and asked him to settle the loan by paying Rs 20 lakh.

Realising he was cheated by the trio, Jebamani gave a complaint to the CCB following which the accused were arrested.
