Chennai, Jan 10 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder-leader Dr S Ramadoss has urged the youth to develop a passion for reading Tamil books and work for the development of the language.

''Love and passion for Tamil Language has to be inborn amongst Tamils and that would ensure the growth of the language,'' the PMK leader said in his address after releasing eminent Tamil scholar Thiru Vi Ka's books at a function held here.

''Tamil Mann Pathippagam,'' one of the leading publishing houses, brought out 54 titles of Thiru Vi Kalyana Sundaram (Thiru Vi Ka) in 24 volumes.

Students opting for political science could learn a lot from Thiru Vi Ka's books on politics as pursued in the pre and post independent India, he suggested.

Despite serious differences in politics, Thiru Vi Ka, rationalist leader Periyar E V Ramasamy and Congress leader Varadarajulu Naidu maintained a cordial friendship, he pointed out.

In his address, veteran CPI leader R Nallakannu said ''Thiru Vi Ka's books are a gift to Tamil Society.

Paying glowing tributes to the Tamil scholar, the CPI leader said Thiru Vi Ka was a multifaceted personality and excelled as a Tamil teacher and an excellent journalist.

Mr Pazha Nedumaran, President, Tamil National Movement, in his Presidential address said, ''Thiru Vi Ka is one of the noble leaders in politics, a person with non contradictory views and a great reformist. His books will be of great help for youngsters to analyse the present political scenario.
