Walkouts mar municipal councillors' meeting
Puducherry, Jan 10 (UNI) The Puducherry municipal councillors' meeting, chaired by chairperson Dr Sreedevi here was marred by frequent walkouts today.
As soon as the meeting commenced, the AIADMK, PMC and few Independent councillors were on their feet to protest the failure of the municipality in fulfilling their requirements.
They argued that they had sought a room for councillors to meet, a xerox machine and a type writer. But nothing was provided so far and wondered the reason of adopting resolutions.
As they did not get a satisfactory reply from the chair, the councillors walked out and returned after a while to take part in the meeting.
A CPI woman councillor also followed suit and staged a walk out protesting Municipality's failure to collect taxes in her area.
Five DMK councillors from Nellithoppe also staged a walkout to protest the non-implementation of any schemes in their areas.
Later, the AIADMK councillors along with Independent councillor Bhaskaran moved towards the chair and argued with Dr Sreedevi, pointing out that the name of Mr Bhaskaran was omitted in an invitation to implement a municipality scheme in his area.
