UP extends Nadwa university's leae by another 30 years
Lucknow, Jan 10 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh cabinet today decided to extend the land leased to renowned Islamic seminary Nadwa by another 30 years.
The decision to extend the lease was taken at a meeting of state the state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, this morning.
The Nadwa was given 32 bighas of land near the Lucknow University campus on a 90 year lease in 1909. While the lease ended in 1999 itself, the government had so far not renewed the lease.
The proposal to this effect was placed by the Housing department.
Nadwa is considered a premier institution of higher Islamic education for Muslim youth.
Recently, the CM had met rector of Nadwa Rabe Hassan Nadvi at the institution, perhaps to discuss the issue. The institution had been demanding the government extend the lease.
