UP continues to reel under cold wave
Lucknow, Jan 10 (UNI) The spine-chilling cold wave sweeping through eastern Uttar Pradesh since last week continued in the state today.
Lucknowites got some relief due to bright sunshine accompanied by rise in temperature, as people in other parts of UP continued to shiver for the second consecutive week.
The toll due to cold in UP stands at 109.
Allahabad, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Faizabad and Kanpur divisions witnessed a fall in night temperature, the met office told UNI here.
Sultanpur at 4.5 degrees was the coldest place in UP for the second consecutive day. Lucknow recorded 6 degrees, followed by Varanasi 7.3, Allahabad 5.6, Kanpur 6.8 and Gorakhpur 5.6 degrees.
Fog continued to play havoc to the schedule of trains. All major long-distance trains, including Amarnath Express, Barauni-Gwallior Express, Sabarmati Express, Neelanchal Express and Gareeb Rath Express, Inter City, Nauchandi Express, Triveni Express and Reevan Express were late.
Meanwhile, the 4723/4724 Kalindi Express, 5003/5004 Chauri Chaura Express and Farukhabad Passenger have been suspended till January 31.
According to weatherman, mornings would continue to be hazy.
The density of fog would depend on moisture content in the atmosphere and the velocity in the coming days.
