Three committees set up to check overloading of vehicles

Bangalore, Jan 10 (UNI) The Karnataka Public Works Department has set up three committees for checking overloaded trucks on the National Highway between Hassan and Tiptur and setting up a toll gate between Chikkanayakahalli and Hassan, PWD Minister H D Revanna said today.

Talking to reporters here, he said the Land and Transport Act provided for checking overloaded goods vehicles by the State officials.

More than 5,000 overloaded trucks move on this area daily, damaging the 100 km strech km badly, he said, adding that he had sent a proposal for setting up 12 weigh bridges on NHs in the State.
