SMC presnts draft budget of Rs 1402 crore for 2007-08

Surat, Jan 10 (UNI) A draft budget of Rs 1,402 crores which gives thrust to infrastructure development, poverty-alleviation and environmental protection has been presented to the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) for the financial year 2007-08.

SMC Commissioner Pankaj Joshi today said that the budget allocates more funds to the development of newly added areas to the corporation and gives thrust to infrastructure development, sanitation, housing, slum upgradation and water distribution.

The budget aims to achieve an octroi collection target of Rs 510 crores which will be 12 percent higher than last years targeted amount, he added.
