Six BEd Colleges set to lose recognition

Bhopal, Jan 10 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Department has been directed to initiate the process of cancelling affiliation and recognition of six BEd colleges, which were found to be not fulfilling the norms as laid down by the government.

A high-level meeting was held today at the Raj Bhawan to look into the admissions into BEd college of the state.

It was also decided to issue no objection certificate to those B Ed colleges, which had completed the process of giving admission to the students in their institutions till September 30, 2006, an official release said today.

Following the instructions, two BEd colleges under Bakatullah University, Bhopal, and four colleges affiliated with Rani Durgawati university, Jabalpur, would lose permission and affiliation.

Governor Balram Jakhar had issued instructions to improve arrangements and academic standard in B Ed colleges in the state. In pursuance of these instructions, inspections were carried out in B Ed colleges and a number of short comings and various other irregularities were found.

The meeting decided to cancel the recognition of BEd colleges failing to fulfil the prescribed norms in future also.

Besides, pending cases of 103 BEd colleges were taken up for discussion at the meeting.

The Higher Education Department Commissioner had cancelled the admissions in these colleges.

These institutions had made an appeal to the state government against the Commissioner's action. It was decided to issue NOC to those colleges which had filed appeal in the Higher Education Department before September 30, 2006, the release added.
