Rs 20,000 for regst minor's gangrape case
Barwani (MP), Jan 10: An inquiry has been ordered into a police official's demand for a hefty bribe to register the complaint of a tribal minor who was gangraped in a forest within this district, the police said.
The victim, who hails from Tapar village, was threatened and taken to the jungle on December 27, 2006 by Kumbh Khet village's tribal youths Kailash Biliya and Khapa.
When the minor approached the Paati Police Station, Rs 20,000 were demanded. The victim and her relatives met the Superintendent of Police Dinesh Chandra Sharma here and alleged that no report was filed despite payment of Rs 7,000.
''A case has now been registered and Barwani's Sub-Divisional Officer (Police) directed to probe the bribe demand,'' Mr Sharma said.
Five of the victim's kin have been jailed for an attempt to murder Biliya's father Khajaan on December 31.
