Jammu, Jan 10 (UNI) As many as 20 teachers and two security personnel were injured when police resorted to lathicharge after they tried to approach Civil Secretariate and state Legislature premises here in Jammu and Kashmir today, official sources said.
Rehber-e-Taleem (ReT) teacher gathered at City Chowk at Shalamar in front of south gate of legislature and secretariate.
During a demonstration, police lathicharged and fired tear gas.
As many as 35,000 Rehber-e-Taleem teachers are working in the state at a salary of Rs 1500 per month. They are demanding a hike in their salary and the issue had also rocked the state Legislative Assembly.
