Rajasthan in grip of intense cold wave

Jaipur, Jan 10 (UNI) Rajasthan's northern and western regions are in the grip of an intense cold wave due to snowfall and accompanying icy winds in the upper reaches of Himalayas.

Pilani was freezing at 2.1 degree and was the coldest in the state today. The state capital recorded 6.4 degree Celsius, two degrees fall from yesterday. However the bright sun and a clear sky provided some relief to the people.

Life has almost come to a standstill in Jodhpur, Bikaner and Jaipur divisions due to ground frost and biting cold as people are prefering to remain indoors.

According to weather department, the cold wave is likely to persist in the state over the next two days.

Ganganagar recorded 3.1 degree, Churu 3.7, Bikaner 4.6, Barmer 5.4, Jaipur 6.4, Dholpur 6.5, Jodhpur 7.1, Jaisalmer 7.3, Udaipur 7.9, Bharatpur 9, Sawai Madhopur 9.4, Ajmer 10.8, Jhalawar 13.6 and Kota 14.2 degree.

Weathermen predicted that temperatures may dip further in Bikaner, Jodhpur and Jaipur divisions over the next two days.
