Railway revenue up 16.92 per cent during April-December
New Delhi, Jan 10 (UNI) The total earnings of Railways during April-December last year were about Rs 45,106.44 crore compared to Rs 38,580.08 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 16.92 per cent.
The goods earnings went up from Rs 25,745.04 crore during the period in 2005 to Rs 30485.38 crore last year, an increase of 18.41 per cent.
The passenger revenue earnings were pegged at Rs 12,726.76 crore compared to Rs 11,370.29 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 11.93 per cent.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 1,233.98 crore compared to Rs 872.29 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 41.46 per cent.
The sundry earnings went up from Rs 592.46 crore during April-December 2005 to Rs 660.32 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 11.45 per cent.
A ministry spokesman today said the number of passengers booked during the period were about 4730.17 million compared to 4406.89 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 7.34 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during the period last year were 2,618.81 million and 2111.36 million compared to 2,478.48 million and 1,928.41 million during the same period last year, an increase of 5.66 per cent and 9.49 per cent respectively.
