ProCurve Networking launches ethernet switches
Bangalore, Jan 10 (UNI) ProCurve Networking, a business unit of HP and a leading supplier of enterprise networking solutions, has launched a new series of stackable 10Gb Ethernet switches designed to reduce network bottlenecks and up the performance of high-bandwidth applications.
ProCurve Networking Asia Pacific and Japan Vice President and General Manager Louis Au said in a release here that ''users now demand more flexibility and higher performance, supporting new high- bandwidth applications without impacting other network users, and the 2900 Series is a cost-effective solution which also offers ease of use and management, as well as strong security.'' Ideal for the wiring closet, the 2900 switches could connect to a large number of PCs, servers and other devices that require high- performance uplinks, supporting bandwidth-intensive applications such as large databases, networked storage, server farms or multimedia applications such as IP-video, the release said.
Both new switches include four dual-personality ports for 10/100/1000 or mini-GBIC connectivity. By including four integrated 10Gb Ethernet ports, the 2900 Series also offered cost-effective and easy-to-deploy 10Gb stacking and uplink, the release said.
The major advantages of the new switches were that they were simple to configure and compliant with industry-standards, and incorporate robust security and management features, it said.
