One dies, ten fell ill after eating cooked Yams

Krishnagar, Jan 10 (UNI) One boy was killed and ten were taken ill, four of them seriously, all of a single family at Tatla village in Dhubulia, after they had cooked food of a vegetable of their backyard, police said today.

Ten-year-old- Jehangir Sheikh died hospital at the wee hours today after he was hospitalised last night in Naida district.

Ten other members were also shifted Shaktinagar hospital after they reported vomitting and sickness. Of them condition of four was critical, police added.

Police said they had cooked Yams, roots of a tropical plant, which were collected from a nearby garden at Chukhiprotha.

Police were investigating the causes of sickness and one death.
