One dies, ten fall ill after eating Yam

Krishnagar, Jan 10 (UNI) One boy died and ten were taken ill, four of them seriously, after they ate cooked yam at Tatla village in Dhubulia, police today said.

Ten-year-old- Jehangir Sheikh died in hospital in the wee hours today after he was hospitalised last night in Naida district.

Ten other members were also shifted to the Shaktinagar hospital after they reported vomitting and sickness. Of them the condition of four was stated to be critical, police added.

Police said they had cooked yam, root of a tropical plant collected from a nearby garden at Chukhiprotha.

Police are investigating the case.
