One dead, six injured in temple gate arch collapse

Solapur, Jan 10 (UNI) One person died and six labourers were injured when the temple gate arch (kamani) they were constructing at Prabhakar Maharaj temple in Samrat chowk collapsed here.

Solapur Police Commissioner Ashok Kamthe told UNI today that a new concrete arch, being put up at the entrance of the temple as part of the renovation gave way late last night killing Gaisaheb Shaikh on the spot and injuring six others. Of the injured, four were discharged after administering first aid and two are in the ICU of local Civil Hospital here.

Referring to television reports that labourers were buried under the debris of the collapse, Kamthe clarified saying except for one casualty, none of the labourers were trapped under the debris.

Mr Kamthe said the process to ascertain the cause of the arch collapse was underway and that the guilty would be dealth with severely.
