Notification delimiting constitutencies issued in HP
Shimla, Jan 10 (UNI) The number of reserved assembly constituencies in Himachal Pradesh have gone up to 17 from 16, while some key assembly constituencies represented by state Chief Minister Virbahdra Singh have been reserved in fresh delimitation of assembly and parliamentary constituencies as notified by the Delimitation Commission today.
Thural Assembly constituency in Kangra district of the state had been wiped out, while Kumarsain constituency in Shimla district had been trifurcated and merged with adjoining assembly segments in Shimla district, where a new constituency named Shimla Rural has been carved out.
In Kullu district, a new constituency of Manali had been carved out from Kullu constituency and some areas of Banjjar Constituency had been added with Kullu to maintain the population balance.
The number of assembly constituencies in Kangra district have been reduced to 15 from 16, while it had gone up to four from three in Kullu district.
Rohru constituency represented by the Chief Minister, Gagret represented by Industries Minister Kuldeep Kumar, Solan represented by BJP's spokesman Rajiv Bindal, Baijnath represented by former parliamentary secretary Sudhir Sharma and Chintapurni constituencies have been reserved, while reserved constituencies of Pragpur-Jaswan and Kasumpati have been de-reserved.
