Nithari shadow will impact UP poll: Venkaiah

Bhopal, Jan 10 (UNI) BJP Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu today said the Nithari killings will have an impact on the coming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

''The outcome of the assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh will be a turning point in national politics. It will herald the rise of the BJP and decline of the Congress,'' Mr Naidu told journalists here.

''The Nithari killings should not be politicised,'' he asserted while alleging total failure of law and order.

Uttar Pradesh's ''backwardness, lack of development, rising unemployment and misuse of position for the ruling party's benefit'' would figure as key issues in the hustings, he said.

Mr Naidu claimed that in the Uttar Pradesh elections, the Congress would figure in the fourth place despite its ''calculated move'' to safeguard its votebank.

''If I had my way, President's Rule would have been imposed in Uttar Pradesh,'' he added.
