Lucknow, Jan 10: Retierating that his government enjoyed complete majority on the floor of the house, Uttar Pradesh chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today asserted that his MLAs would not resign in February, when the 5 year term of the present asembly gets over.

We had resigned enmass in the 13th assembly when the term of the house had expired...now it was upto other political parties to follow our footsteps,'' he told mediapersons to a poser on the demand of Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Ajit Singh assertion that the SP MLAs resign on February 12.

''If the RLD is so particular, its MLAs should put in their papers before the Governor,'' he added.

Pointing out that Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami had gone on record saying that the term of the present assembly would expire on May 14, 2007, Mr Yadav said there was no immediate need to tender resignation.

The CM claimed that his government enjoyed complete majority on the floor of the house and was not in any danger as claimed by the Opposition.

Last night, the CM had convened a marathon 'emergency meeting' with his cabinet colleagues after RLD withdrew its three ministers from the ruling dispensation, in protet against the ''only marginal hike in State Advisory Price of sugarcane.

Hitting out at RLD, he said the state government has always kept the interest of farmers in mind before making any decision. ''Mr Ajit Singh's allegations at best can be termed as baseless,'' he added.

Mr Yadav said the cabinet has decided to reconvene the assembly session on January 15 as the government has got some work which need to be taken up. The Cabinet had, last night, decided to cancel its earlier communication to Raj Bhawan, requesting the Governor to prorogue the assembly session.

To a question on whether he would once again prove the government's majority in the assembly, the CM said whatever would transpire in the assembly would be decided later.

The assembly was adjourned sine-die on December 15 last after the vote-on-accounts for the first four months of the next financial year was approved by the house. On January 3 the state cabinet had decided to prorogue the session.
