Medha Patkar detained, Singur out of bound for her
Kolkata, Jan 10: Police detained social activist Medha Patkar on her way to Singur today as she led a team on a follow up mission for her campaign against acquisition of agricultural land for industry.
Police officials met her in a house where she was staying and asked her not to enter Singur in Hoogly district, failing which she would be arrested.
'' Patkar has been told that she can go anywhere except Singur.
Otherwise she would be arrested once she enter Singur'', Anuradha Talwar, a close associate of Narmada Bachao leader, told UNI.
Ms Patkar who was leading a five-member team to go to Singur where prohibitory orders under Section 144 Cr PC were still inforced.
She was detained and arrested twice in the last month when she tried to visit Singur, which witnessed a volatile situation over the government move to take over the agriculture farm for proposed Tata Motors' small car project.
