JD(U) welcomes SC upholding Parliament's decision on MPs scam
New Delhi, Jan 10 (UNI) The Janata Dal (United) today welcomed the Supreme Court ruling upholding Parliament's decision to expel eleven MPs involved in the cash-for-query scam, but said the court should not have been brought into the matter.
Janata Dal (United) President Sharad Yadav told reporters here that the expulsion of MPs involved in wrong deeds was morally correct.
''In fact they (MPs) should not have gone to the Supreme Court as the highest Panchayat of the country, Parliament, had taken the decision unanimously,'' he said.
Mr Yadav said Parliament had taken immediate decision once the scam came to light and decided to expel the MPs within 13 days.
The JD(U) President said his party was the first to demand stringent punishment for the MPs.
Asked whether he supported Parliament's lenient view on the MPs guilty of siphoning money from MP Local Area Development Funds, he said whatever action was taken in the cash-for-query scam, it was good and we welcome it.
