Hmar People's Convension wants peace dialogue
Aizawl, Jan 10: The Hmar People's Convention (Democratic)-(HPC-D), an underground outfit, has offered a tri-partrite peace talkwith the Mizoram government involving the Union government.
The HPC(D) in a communique, reiterated that to achieve a politicalaspirations of Hmar people, it would not enter into any kind ofdialogue with the Mizoram government alone.
''To negotiate the unfinished agenda of 1994 accord, was signedbetween Govt of Mizoram and Hmar People's Convention, the HPC(D) willascertain that the Centre becomes a third party in peace process,without which any attempt towards securing permanent solution would bein vain'', the outfit said.
It has stated that they would no longer tolerate the juggle of thestate government in the name of peace, as was with 1994 peace accord.
The HPC-D is an offshoot of the Hmar People's Convention (HPC),which signed a Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) with the MizoramGovernment on July 27, 1994, but failure of its implementation enragedHmar community and has been starting underground activities since 1995.
