History-sheeter killed in encounter

Allahabad, Jan 10 (UNI) The Special Operation Group (SOG) of district police gunned down a history-sheeter, carrying a reward of Rs 3,000 on his head, here last night, police today said.

They said that on receiving an information about the presence of some miscreants in Civil Lines area, police team reached the spot.

On being challenged, the miscreants opened fire.

In the cross firing, a notorious criminal, identified as Bablu Mishra alias Mahendra was shot dead late last night. His aide, however, managed to escape.

Several cases of loot, dacoity and murder were pending against the slain criminal. Few months back, the hardened criminal had shot dead constable Ashok Pandey in Civil Lines area.

A hunt was on to nab his associate.
