Four Ayyappa devotees killed, 9 injured

Kozhikode, Jan 10: Four Ayyappa devotees from Karnataka were killed and nine injured, two of them seriously, when the tempo vehicle in which they were travelling rammned into a stationary gas tanker at Payyoli in the district early today.

Police said the van carrying the devotees was proceeding to the hill shrine of Sabarimala, when the accident occurred around 0300 hrs.

The deceased were identified as Ram Babu (32), Gopikrishna(29), Sathyaswami(25), Chandrasekhar(26) from Newbundi, Harla in Karnataka.

The injured were admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, police added.
