Haridwar, Jan 10 (UNI) Special Operation Group (SOG) and police have killed notorious criminal Manoj Nehra, who they claim had been a sharp shooter of Sunil Rathi and Jitendra Sarohi gangs, in the Vivek Vihar colony of the city here.

The dreaded criminal, who carried a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head, was killed yesterday afternoon when he along with two accomplices came to the district to take extortion money of Rs 10 lakh from one Sagar Mithal, an oil dealer of Roorkee, police said.

The breakthrough came when the police teams, led by SOG in-charge R B Chamola and Jwalapur Kotwali Inspector J P Juyal, traced location of the PCO here, which Nehra had used to make a call to the oil dealer.

Finding themselves surrounded the miscreants opened fire. Nehra died on the spot while two others managed to escape, the police said.

SSP Abhinav Kumar said more than two dozen cases of murder, loot and extortion had been registered against Nehra in various police stations of UP, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.
