Chennai, Jan 10 (UNI) The CPI(M) staged a demonstration all over Tamil Nadu today to condemn the recent murder of nine party workers at Nandigram in West Bengal allegedly by the Trinamool Congress activists.

In Chennai city, the volunteers of the Chennai District CPI(M) units were led by party State Secretary N Varadharajan.

Besides Varadharajan, Perambur Legislator Mr Mahendran, north Chennai District Secretary T K Shanmugam, south Chennai District Secretary T Nandagopal and others also condemned the incident.

In his address Mr Varadharajan strongly condemned the killings of the innocent party workers and said it was a ''planned political attack'' by the Trinamool Congress and ultra-left elements.

He said the CPI(M) government in West Bengal was dealing the issue in a ''cautious manner'' to restore normalcy.

The West Bengal Government was committed to protect the interests of the farmers, farm workers, share croppers and others of the state, especially the rural poor population while taking forward the process of industrialisation, he added.

Criticising the recent bandh call given by the Trinamool Congress and other political parties in West-Bengal, the CPI(M) leader said this was just to cover up the killing.
