Cong yet to take decision on confidence vote in UP
New Delhi, Jan 10 (UNI) Stating that the Mulayam Singh Government in Uttar Pradesh is on its way out,the Congress today said that it would take a decision on its stand on the confidence vote to be taken by the Chief Minister at an appropriate time.
Briefing media persons here ,Congress Spokesperson Jayanti Natrajan recalled that AICC General Secretary incharge of Uttar Pradesh Ashok Gehlot had already stated Mr Mulayam Singh should have resigned following the resignation of the Ministers belonging to Ajit Singh's party,RLD.
Asked about the possibility of President's Rule being clamped on the State,she said this was a matter between the Governor and the Administration.
To a question whether the Chief Minster would resort to horse trading with the Independent MLAs to save his Government, Ms Natrajan said "if horse trading takes place it will be unfortunate." She refused to comment on Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh's remark that Congress President Sonia Gandhi had not cared to visit Asom following the massacres by the ULFA.She pointed out that Mrs Gandhi had already expressed concern over the incident and issued a statement directing the Government to take the events seriously.
Ms Natrajan also ruled out as unnecessary the resignation f Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi saying resignation was no solution to every situation.
