Mumbai, Jan 10 (UNI) Call rates slipped to 8.00-8.25 per cent from their previous close of 8.25-8.50 per cent, brokers said.

Liquidity began to show signs of some improvement as was evident by the higher reverse repo numbers at the LAF window.

Despite it being the first week of a fresh fortnight, most banks preferred to borrow far less than what is normally observed. As a result, call money rates softened marginally.

At the LAF window, the RBI accepted eight bids worth Rs 850 crore at the 1-day reverse repo auction. At the 1-day repo auction, 37 bids worth Rs 18,310 crore were accepted.

The CBLO segment saw 326 bids amounting to Rs 19,828 crore getting transacted in the range of 7.15-7.50 per cent.

Slightly improved cash surpluses coupled with moderate funds requirements from the banks, is likely to help the inter bank rates hover around the current levels, brokers added.
