BJP hails SC order on tainted MPs

Bhopal, Jan 10 (UNI) The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party today welcomed the Supreme Court ruling upholding Parliament's power to expel 11 MPs in the cash-for-query scam.

''The apex court order is supreme and all should abide by it.

The BJP has already taken action against erring MPs,'' party Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here today.

Mr Naidu was here for informal consultations on setting up of a training institute in memory of former BJP chief Kushabhau Thakre.

The Supreme Court early today held that Parliament has the power to expel a sitting member for misconduct as also for acts that lowered its dignity.
