Hyderabad, Jan 10 (UNI) The Animation industry in India is forecast to reach 869 million dollars by 2010, representing a CAGR of 25 per, according to a report released by National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) on 'Animation and Gaming in India 2007'.

The report said that the India's gaming industry, currently estimated to be worth 48 million is expected to generate 424 million dollars by 2010, represnting a CAGR of 72 per cent over 2006-2010.

There is a need for focussed human capital development in animation and gaming sectors and government support was required to maintain its share of the global pie and grow rapidly, it added.

The report indicated that the number of professionals in Indian animation industry would increase to 26,000 by 2010 as against 16,500 professionals in 2006.

The key constraint was the growing demand-supply gap in manpower availability that is expected to restrict the Indian animation industry's growth to 869 million US dollars against its potential of exceeding one billion dollars, it said.
